Mother and daughter duo Staajabu and VS Chochezi were a hit with the audience when invited to perform at the Open Book by Angela Sells for a special reading during Yuba Lit. They are known as Straight Out Scribes and have published seven books of activist poetry and performed their original work throughout California and the nation. A recent collection, African Reflections, coincides with artwork from the Walter O.
