hEARt Slam is a fundraiser for the Sierra Writers, organized by Carolyn Crane, and features an incredible lineup of poets and performers who will read original material by HEART: Known by heart, heard by the ear. Sands Hall, Chris Olander, Grace Totherow will light up the stage before we open the mic to students and audience members. It's something a little different. Friday, January 19th at 6pm at the Open Book, 671 Maltman Drive in Grass Valley. $10 tickets are available at the door and in advance at tinyurl.com/slamgv. Extra donations accepted in gratitude at the door.
Sands Hall’s works include the novel, Catching Heaven; a book of writing essays and exercises, Tools of the Writer’s Craft; and a memoir, Flunk. Start, forthcoming in March from Counterpoint Press. Short stories have appeared in New England Review, Iowa Reviewand Green Mountains Review. Chris Olander is a legendary incandescent action artist of musical image phrasing patterns in ecstatic sound bouquets. Grace Totherow graduated with a BA in Dance from Hollins University in 2001. She is a writer, musician, dancer, mentor, and American Sign Language/English interpreter.
